Saturday 6 June

At Moonacres, we believe living well isn’t about rules or restriction—it’s about understanding what truly nourishes us, and bringing that into our everyday lives in simple, practical ways.

Brain health isn’t something we think about until there’s a problem—yet the changes that lead to cognitive decline can begin decades before symptoms appear.

The good news is that many of the same factors that support heart and metabolic health also play a critical role in protecting the brain. What you eat every day has a direct impact on blood flow, blood sugar balance, inflammation and oxidative stress—all of which influence how your brain functions and ages.

Join clinical dietitian, culinary nutritionist and cookbook author Caroline Trickey for a practical, hands-on cooking class focused on using food to support long-term brain health.

With over 20 years’ experience as a dietitian, 12 years running a café and catering business and a decade teaching health-focused cooking classes, Caroline believes food should be as delicious as it is nutritious. She focuses on keeping things quick, easy and doable, bringing together the science of nutrition with food that nourishes both body and brain.

What we’ll explore:

- How nutrition influences brain function, memory and long-term cognitive health.

- The connection between cardiovascular health and dementia risk.

- The role of inflammation and oxidative stress in brain ageing.

- Key nutrients and foods that support brain health.

- Practical ways to build meals that protect and nourish the brain over time.

The experience:

Together, we’ll prepare and enjoy a selection of seasonal dishes designed to support brain health—rich in phytonutrients, healthy fats and ingredients that help maintain steady blood sugar and circulation. Recipes are simple, balanced and designed to be easily incorporated into your everyday routine.

Why this matters:

Conditions such as insulin resistance, high blood pressure and elevated cholesterol are not only risk factors for heart disease—they are also linked to an increased risk of cognitive decline. While we can’t change our genetics, we can influence how our brain ages. Consistent, everyday food choices play a key role in supporting brain function and reducing long-term risk.

This session offers a practical, evidence-based approach to eating for brain health, providing simple strategies you can apply immediately.

The day begins at 10:30am and concludes at 2:30pm and Caroline and the team at Moonacres looks forward to seeing you.
