Wednesday 25 November

Join us for a day that might just change the way you think about food, home and community.

Around a shared table, Jade Miles will invite us into a conversation about living well through the seasons—growing food, cooking simply, preserving abundance, gathering people together and creating lives that are richer through connection.

It is a day of learning, conversation, beautiful food and practical ideas that you can take home and begin using immediately.

Whether you’re cooking for your family, growing vegetables, running a café, food business or community garden, involved in education, building a local food initiative or simply wanting to live more intentionally, you’ll leave inspired with ideas that can be put into practice in your own home, business and community.

During the day you’ll experience:

  • A generous seasonal lunch shared around the Moonacres table.
  • Honest conversations with one of Australia’s leading voices in regenerative living.
  • Practical ideas for living more seasonally and making the most of local food.
  • Inspiration to build stronger families and communities through food.
  • Simple ways to preserve, waste less and celebrate abundance.
  • Stories and traditions worth passing on to future generations.
  • Ideas for creating connection through gathering, generosity and shared meals.
  • New ways of thinking about what it really means to live well.

Jade is a farmer, author, educator, podcaster and one of Australia’s most thoughtful voices on how we might live a little differently—more connected to our food, our seasons, our communities and the places we call home.

Together with her husband Charlie Showers and their family, Jade runs Black Barn Farm in Stanley, north-east Victoria—a biodiverse orchard, nursery and gathering place where they grow heritage fruit, fruit trees and perennial plants, while welcoming people onto the farm to experience where food truly begins.

But Jade’s influence reaches far beyond the farm.

For more than a decade she has worked across regenerative agriculture, local food systems, education and community development. She founded the Beechworth Food Co-op, helped establish the North East Local Food Strategy and today leads Sustainable Table as CEO, working to build a healthier and more regenerative Australian food system.

In 2020 Jade launched her podcast, Futuresteading. What began as a conversation about creating a culture that values tomorrow has grown into more than 215 episodes across 13 seasons, exploring everything from growing food and community building to ritual, family, nature and what it means to live a slower, simpler and steadier life.

Her first book, Futuresteading, challenged us to think differently about the everyday choices we make and how we might live like tomorrow matters.

Her second book, Huddle: Wisdom, Skills and Recipes for Building a Tomorrow of Togetherness, continues that conversation, exploring our growing need for belonging and reminding us that food has always been one of the most powerful ways to bring people together. Filled with practical wisdom and more than 50 seasonal recipes, it encourages us to gather, share skills, nourish one another and create traditions that strengthen our families and communities.

This is why Jade feels so at home at Moonacres.

She isn’t asking us to turn back the clock or reject modern life. Instead, she gently asks us to consider what we’ve lost along the way—and what is worth carrying forward.

Her work reminds us that many of life’s biggest questions can be answered through ordinary acts: growing food, cooking a meal, preserving the harvest, sharing a table and caring for one another.

In a world that can often feel rushed and disconnected, Jade offers another possibility. A life built around food. A future built around community. A tomorrow built around togetherness.

Included in your experience is a beautiful seasonal lunch shared around the table and a copy of either Futuresteading or Huddle to continue the conversation long after the day has finished.

We look forward to welcoming you to Moonacres at 10am for what promises to be an inspiring day of learning, conversation, great food and meaningful connection.
