Saturday 29 March

Grab the family and join Andrea and her extended family in the kitchen to make traditional Easter treats.

The class will begin by preparing the dough for our Cypriot flaounes. Flaounes are a homemade pastry filled with traditional Cypriot halloumi and flaouna cheese.

The dough includes fragrant spices such as nutmeg and mastiha and the cheese filling always has fresh mint from the garden. Whilst the dough is resting, we will begin to make the koulourakia (Greek Easter biscuits), think buttery biscuits that melt in your mouth.

The class will be an opportunity to learn traditional recipes from Andrea's grandmother’s kitchen, roll out, assemble and experiment with various shapes of koulourakia. In the middle of it all, we’ll stop to enjoy a grazing table and share a glass of bubbles, or two!

An afternoon Greek coffee or traditional mountain tea is mandatory whilst we enjoy our delicious Easter treats. Guests will leave with some takeaway treats and of course, the recipes.

This class is hands-on, very relaxed and easy, and, we hope, a lovely chance to spend the day cooking,
creating, chatting and sharing Easter treats with new friends.

Note: The flaouna filling will be prepared beforehand so that it has enough time to set. Andrea will share the recipe during the class.

About Andrea

Andrea, the heart and soul behind “The Traditional Plate” on Instagram, has captivated a growing audience with her genuine love for traditional Cypriot cuisine and the stories that come with it. Growing up, Andrea spent countless hours in her grandparents' kitchen, learning the craft of traditional Cypriot cooking. What began as cherished family moments has now become a mission to preserve and celebrate those recipes for future generations

Easter baking is a family affair and a tradition that Andrea’s family have maintained over the years. 4 generations of family, including aunties and cousins gather at her grandparents’ house to make over a hundred flaounes that are shared amongst the family.

Andrea’s fondest memory during Easter is lining up with her cousins and waiting for her grandfather to take the delicious pastries out of the woodfire oven.

The class begins at 11am and Andrea and the team at Moonacres look forward to seeing you soon.

Note: We have a special offer for kids under the age of 12 at 50% off.
