Sophie Hansen will be in town, and we could not be more excited.
Those of you who know Sophie, know she is one heck of a cook and an exciting and creative teacher. What we love the most is her authenticity around teaching and encouraging the sharing of a table of good food that shows us, that the simple act of eating with friends and family, can be so joyful.
She is the author and photographer of four cookbooks with another on the way, co-host of the podcast Something to Eat and Something to Read and, she spent three years working with Slow Food Editore in Northern Italy in her twenties. For the past ten years Sophie has been sharing recipes on her blog Local is Lovely and runs workshops around country NSW and beyond. She writes a weekly newsletter called ‘5 things to be cheerful about’ and if that's not enough! she was awarded in 2016, Australian Rural Woman of the Year in recognition of her commitment to rural communities.
Sophies approach to cooking and sourcing food - keep it simple, keep it seasonal and get comfortable with a strong repertoire of bombproof recipes. And most of all, make mealtimes and shared tables part of every day.
This time of year, we are spoilt for choice when it comes to fruit and veggies, so in this class we’ll use as much of Moonacres farm early Autumn’s goodies as possible to make four substantial salads and four flavour bombs including a fragrant chilli oil and toasted sesame dukkah.
This beautiful cooking class is not to be missed and you'll leave with a bunch of very handy recipes, plus tricks and jars of good things to posh up everything from a bowl of brown rice and a handful of greens to a fried egg
There will be brewed coffee & Pachamama tea throughout the day along with treats made in the kitchen. The class will end with lunch at our shared school table with local highlands wines.Sophie will have full recipes and some helpful tips for you to take home and the opportunity to purchase her cookbooks
The class runs from 10:00am to 2pm and Sophie and the team at Moonacres look forward to seeing you soon.
