Saturday 29 August

Step into the kitchen with Andrea as she brings the flavours, stories, and wisdom of Greece’s long-living communities to Moonacres.

This class goes beyond recipes — it’s a gentle journey into how food, tradition, and daily rituals nourish a whole life. Together, you’ll explore why places like Ikaria — one of the world’s famed Blue Zones — is celebrated for extraordinary longevity. Andrea will introduce you to the science and heritage behind high-phenolic olive oil, the everyday ingredient that underpins so much of Greek wellbeing.

You’ll also share authentic Ikarian herbal tea, blended from herbs grown in Yiayia’s garden, offering a small but powerful taste of island living.

In the kitchen, you’ll prepare and savour dishes inspired by rustic Greek and Cypriot tavernas, each bursting with vibrant flavours and seasonal ingredients. Picture tender, tangy pickled octopus, golden, crispy fried whitebait, and plump, omega-3-rich sardines straight from the sea. You’ll also enjoy fragrant, herb-stuffed calamari, crisp and colourful Greek salad tossed in the finest olive oil and homemade pita, and a selection of traditional dips.

Every dish celebrates the bounty of land and sea, the generosity of seasonal produce, and the joy of sharing food in the way Greek families have for generations. The meal will conclude with a traditional dessert and a soothing cup of herbal tea from the garden, rounding out a feast that nourishes both body and soul.

We’re delighted to welcome Krystal from The Greek Providore, who will supply olive oils for an immersive olive oil tasting with the best oils from Greece. Krystal will also supply other specialty ingredients for the day.

This is a beautiful, insightful class for anyone who wants to understand not just how Greeks cook — but why their way of eating supports a long, healthy, and connected life.

* Please note: not all dishes will be prepared during the class. Some items will be prepared beforehand to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience.
