Saturday 1 November

Celebrate summer the Cypriot way with a traditional charcoal BBQ as Pappou Savva takes his place behind the grill. Watch as he prepares souvla, juicy skewers of meat rotating over the charcoal, a time-honoured tradition that has nourished our family for generations.

Ever wondered what it’s like to sit down for a weekend lunch at Yiayia’s table? Or to be part of a big, fat Greek BBQ? This is your chance! Step into the kitchen with Yiayia Andriani and Pappou Savvas as we cook together, share family recipes, and gather for a long, leisurely lunch.

Our Greek Cypriot Cooking Class is more than just learning to cook—it’s an immersion into the heart of Mediterranean hospitality. Each dish tells a story, rooted in culture and tradition, passed down through generations. As we prepare and enjoy the meal, you’ll also hear stories of Cypriot life, family, and the role food plays in bringing people together.

Perfect for food lovers, travelers, and curious cooks, this class is a true celebration of heritage. Come hungry, leave inspired.

About Andrea

Andrea, the heart and soul behind “The Traditional Plate” on Instagram, has captivated a growing audience with her genuine love for traditional Cypriot cuisine and the stories that come with it. Growing up, Andrea spent countless hours in her grandparents' kitchen, learning the craft of traditional Cypriot cooking. What began as cherished family moments has now become a mission to preserve and celebrate those recipes for future generations.

Menu

We’ll be feasting on a traditional Cypriot spread featuring pork, chicken, and lamb souvla, succulent meats slow-roasted over charcoal, served alongside lemon-roasted potatoes, fluffy Cypriot pita bread, creamy tzatziki, taramosalata, and a fresh garden salad picked straight from Yiayia’s backyard.

Together, we’ll also cook a dish celebrating the seasonal produce from Moonacres Farm and enjoy a selection of meze inspired by the flavours of Cyprus.

To finish, Yiayia will step into the kitchen to prepare her famous homemade pischies—crispy fried pastries drizzled with honey and sprinkled with nuts. Dessert will be paired with traditional Greek coffee and fragrant mountain tea.

The class begins at 11am and Andrea and the team at Moonacres look forward to seeing you soon.
