Start your bread making journey at Moonacres School with our fabulous Focaccia and Flat bread workshop.
Beginning with simple rustic flatbreads, this class focusses on easy breads to bake at home, starting with the pillowy- soft & springy focaccia - so versatile - topped with blistered tomato and olives, onion and anchovies, or herbs, soft cheese or juicy figs and grapes. Perfect for dipping into whipped ricotta, for your grazing platter, or for a simple porchetta sandwich!
You will also learn the simple art of yoghurt flat bread, the perfect accompaniment to your curries and dahls, great for dipping into home made hummus, or the perfect wrap for buttery scrambled eggs and prosciutto!
Moonacres Bakery was set up in 2017, beginning with a focus on great bread and expanding to include the most delicious pastries, cakes and specialty breads. Five years on and Moonacres Bakery is one of the busiest in the Highlands, servicing Moonacres Kitchen cafe, loyal bread-loving locals and many businesses in the Highlands with a range of sourdough and specialty breads, alongside incredible baked treats and pastries that would rival any top patisserie in Paris!
Since its humble beginnings Moonacres Kitchen Bakery has been committed to using organic stone milled flour and traditional methods that produce a flavourful and health giving loaf of bread. Ryan joined the Bakery team in 2021, after owning & operating hospitality venues for over 15 years. He brings with him a wealth of experience in French classics and a deep love of bread and the breadmaking process.
In this class you will:
- remove some of the mysteries of baking at home
- learn why cultivating yeast from a starter produces great
tasting bread and is good for you
- work with Moonacres starter, fresh yeast and learn how to mix, kneed and shape
- understand bread fermentation
- enjoy delicious bread with Moonacres cultured butter, preserves and pickles
- take with you a formed dough and some starter, to bake beautiful
bread at home
This class runs from 10am to 1pm.
This class is suited to keen beginners as well as those with some breadmaking experience.
