As this week marks the end of lockdown, Jimmy will bring his last 'Jimmy's on Friday' take home dinner, whilst he parks the Fiat, takes it in for a service and begins to plan the next reiteration of Jimmy for your enjoyment shortly.

Beginning in Bologna, Jimmy has been busy making his own mortadella and will start the evening with Mortadella Ricotta Frustare & Rosemary Pane. Our house made mortadella made using pork from Taluca Park Free Range in Exeter will be whipped with ricotta and being served with Rosemary bread.

Heading to Naples Jimmy will bring you a dish that is the epitome of this wild city, Pasta alla Puttanesca. Originally known locally as ‘aulive and chiapparielle’ (olives and capers) it developed with the addition of chilli, anchovies and oregano, but its origins are many.

One of the many varied stories say that in the small town of Ischia, late one evening customers came in hungry looking for food, but the owner had very little left. The customers asked to have “una puttanata qualsiasi,” that is, to throw together whatever ingredients he had, to make something simple. All he could find was tomatoes, capers, olives and chillies.

Originally known as pasta 'alla marinara', it developed its name in the brothels of the Spanish Quarters after WWII, particularly as the neighbouring region of Lazio, with Rome at its heart the name 'alla puttanesca' was born.

To finish off our 'Jimmy's on Friday' series for now Jimmy heads to the capital of chocolate in Italy, the city of Perugia in Umbria to bring you the their dessert salami, our version Chocolate, Pistachio & Candied Rhubarb Salami.

Enjoy the last hurrah of Jimmy at your place this Friday and stay tuned for Jimmy post lockdown.
