Join us at Moonacres School for our Stir-up Sunday  - a festive morning of joyous Christmas baking!  From the ultimate Christmas pudding, to fruit mince tarts, savoury biscuits and other delightful Christmas treats for your table or as gifts.

Stir-up Sunday derives its name from Anglican tradition. Inspired by the lines in the Book of Common Prayer on the last Sunday before Advent - "Stir up, we beseech thee, O Lord, the wills of thy faithful people" - it became associated with the custom of making Christmas puddings and fruit mince on that day.

To us it symbolises the spirit of the festive season - coming together to cook, and making delicious treats for friends and family. What a great way to celebrate the season with like-minded cooks (and Christmas tragics!), to celebrate the happiest time of the year.

Come and join renowned cook, author and local, Anna Phillips: stir the pot, get festive and have some fun. You will go home with a bundle of Christmas cheer -  puddings, tarts and other baked treats.

Great for a gathering of friends or family. (Minimum booking in pairs per our COVID policy.)

In this class you will learn:

  • how to prepare a classic Christmas pudding
  • how to make fruit mince tarts
  • how to bake a range of delicious savoury biscuits and other treats


During the class you will enjoy a glass or two of Prosecco, coffee, tea, and a light lunch from Moonacres.

At the end of the class you will take with you:

  • A steamed pudding for Christmas day
  • fruit mince tarts
  • savoury biscuits
  • recipes from the day and lots of Christmas spirit!


COVID19 - Please note we are running intimate classes of 10, with 5 pairs working together. Bookings may only be made in multiples of 2, with a minimum of 2 people. These arrangements are to ensure that we follow COVID19 guidelines, and provide a safe and enjoyable class. We encourage group bookings of up to 10 for a fun gathering for family and friends.
